• Encouraging extensive root development

  • The following will encourage good root development:
  • Organic fertiliser: compost, green manure (e.g. Dhaicha)
  • Single transplants & wide spacing
  • Mechancial weeding 2-4 times until canopy closes. Weeding airates soil.
